Texans at Colts recap

Texans at Colts recap
17-30

This was the most important game of the season thus far and may very well be the most important game until we win the Superbowl this year. Going in to this game there were so many questions, issues and on my part full on worries. We’re seldom beat the same way but with the week one massacre of the run defense has kept me wake for 7 weeks. Beyond that The Colts decided the bye week was the best time to lose all our best players in the receiving game (except my boy Reggie Wayne, love that guy) losing Dallas Clark to the I.R., Austen Collie for 2-4 weeks, and Joseph Addai then unbeknownst to the fans we would also not have Jerraud Powers and Jacob Lacey Two of our starting corners.

The game starts off with a great defensive drive by the Colts to force a three and out which is exactly what the Colts needed because the lost the coin toss. Then the offense takes the field and I’m licking my chops thinking if we score here it’s all but over. The first play Manning to Tamme (who was replacing Clark) in the flat, point blank dropped pass. Play two same exact play except to Brodie Eldrige point blank drop….. then a incompletion on third and ten and the Colt start with a three and out at this point I’m hanging the rope and writing my note but then the Colts defense comes out and sends a message and sets a pace for the whole game starts with a Freeney sack and then another three and out. The Colt’s next drive Manning goes right back to Tamme except this time for a forty yard strike to put them in the green zone for the go ahead score. The next drive Kelvin Hayden Picks off Matt Schaub and takes it to the house for 6 with a fourteen to nothing start the Colts never looked back with a final score of thirty to seventeen.

Things worth mentioning beyond that, Mike Hart came in and true to the next man up philosophy had a great game with nearly 100 yards rushing a mile stone he most likely would have gotten had he not left the game in the fourth quarter. What would one of my columns be with out mention on Manning’s MVP performance? I’m not going to dole praise on him for his two touchdowns nor the fact he didn’t throw any interceptions in yet another game and is leading the league with a low of two interceptions. No, I’m recognizing him this time for two things you seldom see him do first his 15 yard scramble for a first down that would have made Archie proud I bring this up because it’s the first time in four years he’s ending a game with positive rush yardage. Next I think Peyton’s key block on a Defensive back to help Pierre Garcon get the first down on what was for sure the play of the week deserves to be mentioned as well. Over all great win that was crucial to the success of the team. Short week headed in to Philadelphia but hopefully headed to a Colt’s win I can highlight for you next week. GO COLTS!!!!!
